 Flight School
OK.. so I have been talking with Sewer about the flght school that he used to hold...
So School is in session and here are the details
Date: TBD (saturdays) Time: 1pm eastern Where: =SoE= Practice server Who: All =SoE=, ST6, WTF, =)BiT(= and any registered member of the =SoE= site.
Sewer will lead the training and have say in what areas we focus on. First off will likely be bombing and then dog fighting. I am going to work with Kn-Doka to get a seperate TS server running to use for the training.
Another area that I would like to explore is having AnotherEd do some chopper training. I have pitched the idea to him and just waiting to here back from him on it. If Ed is not able to do it, we will see if someone else wants to lead this part. Sewer has someone in mind...
I would like to get it going for this Saturday, so stay tuned and I will let you know if we are set... Wake airshow will be used for the dogfighting portion, so if you don't have it... get it!

 Re: Flight School
that sound awesome. too bad i have to work on sat's tho i woulda loved to be a crash test dummy (no pun intended) as far as the chopper goes, i think ken could be a great teacher if he decided to teach. all i know is helo vs helo, i have to sneak up on him to take him down...and that's not always a guarantee if i see people on the private server i'll join in and do whatever is asked to play a role.

 Re: Flight School
A few ground rules for the school:
1.) on Wake Airshow If you are not involved in the current dogfight YOU ARE TO STAY OUT OF THE AIR!! there will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule and if you break it you will be barred from participating in the dogfighting segment of the school.
2.) during the bombing segment there will be absolutely no use of Anti-Air until I say say so.
3.) a copy of FRAPS will be made available to each student (don't ask, don't tell). this is so that you can record your lessons and review them afterward. Try to keep the file sizes small. only record when you need to. during the dogfighting segment you will exchange your recordings with your opponent so that you can review what the other person was seeing and learn from any mistakes you made. How you get the files to each other will be up to you.
4.) The following Jets are off limits AT ALL TIMES during the dogfighting segment: Eurofighter, J-10 (I know some people know how to get it out) All bombers. There will be absolutely no exceptions to this rule and if you break it you will be barred from participating in the dogfighting segment of the school.

 Re: Flight School
I just saw my PM from dgrillo and responded before I saw this thread. I'm totally game for this. I just can't promise any amount of success lol. I've never taught anyone else before, and I use a trackball. I'm pretty much an odd oddball.
That all said, there are common things to improve on and receive feedback from an external reviewer in order to improve your game in a heli. My first reaction upon thinking further on this though is that usually most is combat awareness, prioritization, timing, etc. And usually all those things are more obvious when IN actual combat. So I'm not sure how to define a set of rules for heli practice as compared to Sewer's well thought out jet rules.
I might need to do a bit more research on this and that may make me not ready for this Saturday depending on how I catch up with work and am motivated to study/prepare versus just play in my "spare time". ;)~
Does anyone have ideas on what they'd like to see covered specifically with helis? Heli vs Heli? Heli vs jet? Heli vs ground? Soloing? Etc?
As I told dgrillo, I haven't really ever taught before, so I'm unsure of my ability to deliver in this situation. I think at the best I can promise at least another set of eyes that have seen 600+ hrs of heli usage and the feedback that comes to mind accordingly...

It might be best that we hold off a week or so for the chopper stuff.... it would be best to hold this when Wake Airshow is running... I will give it some thought ed and get back to you..
