Now thanks to Globama they'll be more hybrids since he owns GM. Say goodbye to construction. Who wants to carry lumber or any building material in a hybrid

Actually there are some very nice hybrid trucks. Where I intern at the local state park office, the CAMA (Coastal and Aquatic Management Agency) division has 3 (their only 3 vehicles lol) and they are very nice.

I've always wanted a Tesla Roadster - wicked fast, tons of torque (an electric engine has all its torque all the way). The only thing missing is the sound. But someone told me about a device you can strap to your car which can attach to your tach and sound like a supercar.
As for the pickups, there are indeed some nice hybrid pickups from GM. They are dual mode hybrids, which can save gas both in city driving (regenerative braking) and highway (reducing the electric load on the truck).
They aren't really economical yet - you'd have to drive alot of miles to break even, but someone has to test it out.
I know, I know...it's not a truck. Duh. It's still pretty f'n cool.
I'd rather have the new Audi R8 V12 TDI Le mans then Its not a hybrid, but very clean diesel

That one doesn't really save as much on ye ol' fossil fuels tho, does it?
My point to posting that was someone has made a rather powerful street car that is all electric. There's no reason to say that without fossil fuel dependent cars we won't be able to function as a society.
The other thing about a Tesla or any pure electric car - really low maintenance. The only major thing is to replace the batteries, but that may be far down the road. Currrently there are 8 year old Prius on the road, and no Prius has had its batteries replaced yet. No oil changes, engine work, trasnmissions etc. Just tires and brakes.

This one is nice. Not totally pure electric tho. I read it has the engine sound simulation Hopes talked about. And it works for more than 2 ppl. http://karma.fiskerautomotive.com/
BTW I had no idea that there were a pure electric Prius. I only tried the hybrid one out for a couple of days on my companys behalf. Strange car.

Toyota doesn't sell a plug in or pure electric Prius. But the batteries they use are the same type as the one in a pure electric. There are companies that have taken a Prius and made it a plug in. It is big $$ though .
The new model Prius is supposed to be less "different" feeling to drive. Honda also has a new hybrid - the new Insight which looks like a slightly shrunken Civic (4 doors unlike the old Insight).
Can you tell I'm in the auto indutsry?

What else are we going to use them for then?
My vote would be in the farming equipment which we would still need to use to supply food....
